Description
There are more than 300 species of woodpeckers worldwide. These birds love to peck wood for a variety of reasons: build a nest, search for insects, get sap, or make a hole to store food. This bird that inspired Walter Lantz created the cartoon character Woody Woodpecker.
Despite liking to peck a tree with its beak, the woodpecker never suffered a brain injury. What's the secret?
When choosing wood, woodpeckers typically target trees that have been fragile due to weathering the fungus, making it easier to destroy. Their peckers is also usually done in passing, not a direct stroke, so not so hard for woodpeckers.
Some species of woodpeckers often perform super-fast recurring stamps to attract the attention of the opposite sex and defend their territory. They do so on the surface of the resonant, like the bark of a hollow tree, so the sound produced is loud but does not make their head hurt. This drawing is the type of woodpecker found in several regions of Indonesia … usually in pairs, wherever are the trees, especially coconut palm in which the nests-hole is drilled. You will always hear them first either the sound of bill drumming against the wood, like a loud rattling human snore, or a series of queer squeaky peeps, smilar to the noise prodused by a deflating ballom or Christmas ticklet.
