Description
Kingfisher, generally called Raja-prawn in Indonesian, is the general name for a fish-eating bird from the Alcedinidae family. It is often found in tropical lowland forests near the shores of lakes and rivers in several ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Brunei, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. This tiny bird lives alone and hunts from low places above the water by diving in water, looking for insects and frogs. Sometimes considered a subspecies of the Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher.

Kingfisher, biasa disebut Raja-udang dalam bahasa Indonesia, merupakan sebutan umum untuk burung pemakan ikan dari keluarga Alcedinidae. Banyak ditemukan di hutan tropis dataran rendah dekat tepi danau dan sungai di beberapa negara ASEAN seperti Indonesia, Brunei, India, Malaysia, Filipina, dan Thailand. Burung mungil ini hidup menyendiri dan berburu dari tempat rendah di atas air dengan cara menyelam di air mencari serangga dan katak. Kadang-kadang dianggap sebagai subspesies dari Kingfisher Kurcaci Oriental.
