Description
This Green coconut cafe is found along the "Berlin Wall," crowded every morning by the citizen of Sorong town, especially morning walk sports lovers. The coconut traders are generally coming from indigenous Papua women who inhabit several islands of Dampier Strait in Sorong Regency on the Bird's Head peninsula of West Papua, including the Sop and Buaya Islands. Every family on these islands has a coconut plantation either in their home yard or on extensive grounds. Every morning at about 05.00 AM, they arrange the coconuts on the Berlin Wall. "Berlin" is a short word for "Berlindung." We usually call it " Tembok Berlin" (in Indonesia), which means "Protection Wall." The Wall has been built by Sorong municipal government to protect the coast from the lapping of Pacific ocean waves that raged in changing seasons. Sometimes I stop by such a favorite place after one hour of morning sports; I stay there for a moment to drink and rest. While enjoying coconut drinks, you can also enjoy the beautiful beaches. Many old, young, and kids, as well as some foreign tourists, were coming to spend an hour swimming and sunning under the bright morning sunshine along the beach. From hence, if the weather is sunny, you can see the world-famous Raja Ampat archipelago with its beauty of the marine park and dives .... one of the worldwide maritime tourism destination locations. There are several Hotels just close to this place, such as the Indah Hotel, Belagri Hotel, Mamberamo Hotel, Waigo Hotel, and more. This painting was sketched directly by me in 2016 and waited for the right time to transfer over the canvas. Right on April 27, 2018, I started working with Classico oil.
