Description
Red Fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam) is an endemic plant that grows wildly in Papua forests. There are around 30 cultivars of Red Fruits in rural Areas of Papua and Papua New Guinea. But only four variants have high economic values among others such as Merah Panjang (long red), Merah pendek (short red), Cokelat (brown), and kuning (yellow). Red Fruit variants that are used as medicine are of Merah panjang (long red) like this painting. The size is around 100 cm in length, 18 cm in diameter length, and 7.5 kg in weight. The fruit has a blunt edge and cylindrical shape Traditionally, red fruit has been consumed hereditary by Papua people as a source of food.
Some scientific research has been done to explore the content and the benefits of red fruit. They observed and found that red fruit contains complete nutritional compositions useful for the body. Nutritional and bioactive components of the red fruit are also abundant so that it is able to cure various diseases
Although experts have many years of trying to make a drug to cure AIDS remains the medicine has not been found. Maybe you yourself feel insecure about the efficacy of red fruits like this one. But the efficacy of red fruit has been proven to cure AIDS, Cancer and Tumors Stroke and High Blood Diabetes Mellitus (Diabetes), Osteoporosis.
Among the Maybrat community, red fruit plants can be planted in the yard or in the garden. This image has been captured directly from a teak garden belongs to our Church Leader in Sorong - West Papua when I was there for two weeks ministry in October 2013.
