Description
Sentani Lake is the largest and most beautiful lake in Papua, Indonesia. It is located under the slopes of the Cyclops Nature Reserve Mountains, with an area of about 245,000 hectares. This lake stretches between Jayapura City and Jayapura Regency, Papua. It has an area of about 9,360 hectares and is located at an altitude of 75 meters above sea level.
21 small islands adorn this beautiful lake. Sentani means "here we live in peace," according to the native local language. The name Sentani was first mentioned by a Christian Pastor, BL Bin, when he carried out missionaries in this lake area in 1898.
This lake has been managed as a tourist attraction because it is 5 kilometers from Jayapura and easy to reach. There are so many tourist boats ready to get you around the Lake.

Danau Sentani merupakan danau terbesar dan terindah di Papua Barat -Indonesia. Letaknya di bawah lereng Pegunungan Cagar Alam Cyclops, dengan luas sekitar 245.000 hektar. Danau ini membentang antara Kota Jayapura dan Kabupaten Jayapura, Papua. Memiliki luas sekitar 9.360 hektar dan terletak di ketinggian 75 meter di atas permukaan laut.
21 pulau kecil menghiasi danau indah ini. Sentani berarti “di sini kita hidup damai,” menurut bahasa asli setempat. Nama Sentani pertama kali disebutkan oleh seorang Pendeta Kristen, BL Bin, saat ia melaksanakan misionaris di kawasan danau ini pada tahun 1898.
Danau ini dikelola sebagai objek wisata karena berjarak 5 kilometer dari Jayapura dan mudah dijangkau. Banyak sekali perahu wisata yang siap mengantar Anda berkeliling Danau.
