Description
It's a medium-sized bird - namely woodpecker. Upper parts black, heavily barred white. Under tail red, breast and belly buff with light flank barring and slight side streaking. Withish cheeks partly bordered by a black line. Crown red in male with orange forehead, black in the female. Found mostly in Bali since absent in Australia region. They used coconut palm in which the nest is drilled - There are six kinds of woodpeckers found in Bali but the only one can be considered as common and may be found usually in pairs. All the woodpeckers are well-known locally as Belatuk.
